Snakehead Fish

A few months ago I watched a movie on the Sci-Fi Channel called the Snakehead Fish Terror. This was cheesy sci-fi fun and I enjoyed the movie.

What is a snakehead fish? It is an aquarium fish imported from China. It has a head that is shaped like a snake's head and resembles a snake. They also have a sharp set of teeth. The biggest of these fish caught by rod and reel weighed close to 10 pounds but they can grow larger.

In some areas of the world, they are a popular food fish.

How is a snakehead fish dangerous? They eat anything that moves in the water if it is small enough for them to eat. This diet can include rodents and birds. They ambush their prey rather than chase it.

The problem they present is if they are introduced into bodies of water that are not native to them, they can harm the native fish species by eating them up as the snakehead fish multiply.

Introduce a few of these fish into a pond filled with bass and brim and soon there will not be any bass and brim.
